The arthritis is one of the other causes of the knee swelling. There are lots of other causes of knee swelling. The knee swelling can cause some problem in walking also.

What to do at the time of knee swelling:

It is very easy to heal the knee swelling and it is not a serious matter but the swelling can be serious if it is bruising within 30 minutes of an injury and if there are symptoms of impaired blood flow.like pale, white, blue, or cold skin and theere is pain and increasing redness in the swelled area. The best thing to do at the time of knee swelling is to take rest and you can also apply some ice on the swelled area and it will be fine in two or three days. Apply the warm heat at least three times a day. The exercise can also help the swelling. You should try to bend the leg on the opposite direction of the swelling. The pain killers don't help much at the time of swelling but some people use the pain killers to reduce the pain. If the swelling does not go down within some days then you should go and see a doctor.
